It is important that you realize, it isn't difficult to add a custom domain into your blogger account. If you are a blogger. it's perfect if you already own your own blog. It shows your passion and love for blogging and provides you with freedom to move from one platform to another, when and if you need. Also from users perspective, it's much easier for them to remember and visit your blog at customized address like sharetoworld.com then sharetoworld.blogspot.com.
Before you do this you will need to register a domain name. You can use any register you like, but I prefer GoDaddy and in this example I am going to show you how to do this using GoDaddy.
GoDaddy is oldest, trusted and highly reliable network. The one of the best this about Godaddy is sometimes they offers highest discount as compare to other registrar. Godaddy offers each and every facility within domain advanced panels that means you can easily use domain self hosted website, self hosted WordPress blogs, Bloggers blog and more other platforms. One of the best thing which i likes in Godaddy is its most secured platform which protects you from outsides attacks.
Here the way to setup the domain with GoDaddy.
1- LogIn to you Blogger account >> Setting >> Basic
2- Go to Publishing >> Blog Address >> Click on +Setup a 3rd p arty URL for your blog >> Type the URL of the domain you've purchased (It must begin with www in order to word)
3- Click Save
4- After that you should see an error as shown below in image, and two CNAMEs listed below. You will see each CNAME is made of two parts - Name, Label or Host and Destination, Target or Points to. First CNAME is the same for everybody, Name being "www" and Destination "ghs.google.com". But second CNAME is unique (particular to your blog and your Google Account, that's why different for Everyone).
5- Now Log in to GoDaddy
6- Open the Domain tab and select My Domain Names. You will be directed to the Domain Manager page.
7- Select the domain that you'd like to use with your blog and click Launch
8- Click to DNS Zone File tab >> Click on Add Record >> Select CNAME (Alias)
9- For this you need to copy the two CNAMEs from blogger Error message which is Unique for everyone. Add it in CNAME Record as show in below second image.
Note 1 : - Record type: CNAME (Alias)
- Host: www
- Points to: ghs.google.com
- TTL: 1 Hour
Note 2 : Add the second CNAME as the same procedure (second image)
10- Now Add Record >> A (Host) with the list of IP.
216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21
Note: Don't forget to delete the old host as you won't need it anymore.
11- At the top of the page, click on the "Save Zone File" button to save your settings.
12- Now go back to your Blogger and try to Save setting again. The registration process takes 24-48 hours, so don't worry if you get an error again. Come again later to blogger after 24-48 hours, repeat step 9 and 10, press Save and the error should be gone.
13- After your URL starts working, click on "Edit" then Check the "Redirect ..... to.... ". Check box below your site address to ensure that even if the visitors will miss out the www part, they will still be able to reach your site.
That's it. Enjoy your new URL!
